Life Fitness - Manufacturing Engineer

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES This role will allow you to utilize your past experience in Manufacturing Engineering to improve production, tooling and overall manufacturing capabilities of our facility. You will work with various departments on the manufacturing process and apply your knowledge of lean principles and methods to increase the overall manufacturing productivity of our Life Fitness brands. You will also lead a team on continuous improvement and increase quality, productivity and overall manufacturability. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Lead continuous improvement teams in plant operations to drive improvement in the areas of cost, quality, safety, and delivery. oLead manufacturing engineering efforts in support of new product introductions including DFMA feedback to engineering groups, schedule and budget adherence, PFMEA development, and other project deliverables are met via the PACE process. oManage key project deliverables including project plans and budgets, make/buy and capacity analyses, labor standards and routings, line/facility layouts, and visual process documentation. oDrive optimization through capital equipment justification and acquisition and introduction of new technologies into existing processes; explore best practices to expand manufacturing capabilities and strategic competitiveness. oEnsure that all processes and equipment satisfies the company's Safety Management System requirements and meets or exceed the recommended safety guidelines and ergonomics. oUtilize Lean/Six Sigma tools to identify and eliminate waste and reduce process variation. Perform direct and indirect labor analysis, capacity analysis, line balancing, material and WIP flow analysis, and process optimization. oDesign tooling, fixtures, and material handling devices to ensure quality standards are met and manage delivery process including fabrication, installation, and follow-up. oImplement operational changes as defined through assigned Engineering Change Orders and maintain process conformance with regard to ISO certification and Quality Policy. MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS oB.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. oSeven (7) + years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a vertically integrated operation with metal fabrication and assembly operations. oStrong project management skills and experience. oStrong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to provide technical direction to others and leadership to cross-functional teams. oIs a self-directed, "hands-on", problem-solver with the ability to multi-task several projects and able to maintain the high quality and timeliness of deliverables. oSolid experience and working knowledge of Lean principles / methods including Value Stream Maps, 5S, Kaizen, etc. oGreen Belt certification, Black Belt preferred. oMust be able to apply root cause analysis and problem solving tools. oMust be proficient in MS Office, MS Project, AutoCad, and SolidWorks. Must work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires elevation of identifiable factors. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
